How did you start your writing career

As I said in my earlier post, I started writing about 4 years ago. What made me start in the first place was that I got to thinking of all the technology we are discovering to the point that we are reaching the Jetsons age. Okay maybe not quite that far yet, but we are getting there slow but sure.
So I started wondering what would happen if somehow, someone got inadvertently transported to a time say, 1865, right at the tail end of the Civil War. How would he face living in this primitive life where there is no bathroom, electric light, horses as transportation, etc. If you remember the Beverly Hillbillies of the '60's. The premise of the show was a family who lived a primitive life in the Ozark Mountains and then got thrust in the big city of Beverly Hills, California. The showed the naivete of the Clampetts trying to adjust to the technology of that era.
So I took pen in hand--yes, I do write that way to get my muse going, and started writing a love story about a doctor and his friend who are accidentally thrown into a time warp where they are now in the year 1865, and just like the Clampetts, trying to adjust to this primitive life.
I am still working on the book...four years later. Our beloved CEO of eXtasy, Tina Haveman said it still needs work. Kind of humbling considering I've written 6 books and contributed to 2 anthologies. LOL
Anyway, I would be interested in knowing, how, you, my fellow writers got the writing bug and also took pen in hand--or put fingers to the keyboard. What motivated you to start writing?
Also give me some encouragement to keep working on the above story, despite what our evil, but lovable CEO Tina Haveman. (Winking at ya, Tina.)
For those of you readers who are contemplating writing, just do it. Yes, you will get rejections, but just keep plugging away. You will make it, I promise you. All of the authors at eXtasy and Devine Destinies have been there--dealt with rejection, but we all plugged away and here we are.

Finally, if you are new to this blog, please follow me. I will try to have a new post every week. :)

Hi there

I was born in Italy and came to America when I was six years old. I now live in St. Louis Missouri. By day, I work for UPS...going on 34 years and counting. OMG.
During my leisure time, when I'm not working or writing, I spend time with my family, which consists of my wife and two cats. I'm an avid fan of professional sports especially, baseball, hockey and football. I am also a trivia buff and you just might catch me at a trivia tournament in your area.
I have been writing for the last 4 years. When I first started writing, to show you how naive I was to the writing world, after I wrote my first book, I actually started looking for literary agents over the Internet, to hawk my baby in hopes I would eventually make it to the NY Times best seller list.
Well that all came crashing down when I was getting reject after reject. Then I found an epub, by accident, which happened to be located in Singapore--I think that was where they were located.
I was excited when they accepted my book but my hopes and dreams came crashing down once again, when right in the middle of my edits, the ebook company went out of business.
I thought my writing world was over before it ever got off the ground.
For some reason, I put that book aside, and started another book. After some rejections, actually a lot of rejections, eXtasy books finally accepted One Dangerous Woman.  And the rest, as they say, is history.
Since then I have written 4 books for eXtasy and 2 books for Devine Destinies. Yo can see all of my books on my home page, along with 2 anthologies that I participated in.
I would love for all who read this blog to follow me. I will try to have a story or note at least once a week to let you know what is going on in my life--well at least in my writing career.
See ya there.
